Awake
Guards
A guard turns normal sleep on again when the Mac is not safe to keep awake.
The guards are on by default. They apply in each awake mode: the timer, a process, and agents.
Battery guard
The battery guard turns normal sleep on again below a battery level. It applies only when the Mac is on battery power.
To change the level, open Settings › Awake › Guards and set Battery level. You can choose from 5 % to 90 %.
Heat guard
The heat guard turns normal sleep on again when macOS reports a high thermal state.
| Setting | When the guard fires |
|---|---|
| Serious (default) | At the serious thermal state or higher. |
| Critical | At the critical thermal state only. |
The heat guard comes before the battery guard and the timer.
When a guard blocks a start
If a guard would fire at once, Widgetful does not start awake mode. The panel shows the guard that blocks the start, for example the heat guard on a hot Mac.
Caution: Do not turn off the heat guard when the Mac is in a bag. A closed Mac that does not sleep can become too hot.
