What the hooks send, what they never send, and what leaves your Mac.
What the hooks send
The hooks send these facts to the Widgetful app on your Mac, and to nothing else:
| Fact | Example |
|---|---|
| The agent | claude-code |
| The session ID | 9f2c… |
| The folder of the session | ~/code/widgetful |
| The state | waiting |
| The terminal app and the TTY | iTerm2, ttys004 |
Widgetful uses the terminal and the TTY only to bring back the terminal of a session when you click a notice.
What the hooks never send
Your prompts, your code, the replies of the agent, or the content of your files. The widgetful hook command reads only three keys of the hook input: session_id, cwd and hook_event_name.
What leaves your Mac
For personal use, the Widgetful app sends nothing off your Mac. It has no analytics. The hooks talk only to Widgetful on your Mac, through a local socket.
With a commercial key, the app checks the key with our server when you enter it, and then each 30 days. It sends only the key, a random install ID and the app version. See Commercial licence and the privacy policy.
